Hi, my name is
Firat Honca.
I build and automate cloud infrastructure.
I'm a DevOps engineer focused on cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform reliability. I design Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, ship containerized workloads on AWS and GCP, and build CI/CD pipelines that make deployments boring.
ScrollAbout Me
Hello! I'm Firat, a DevOps engineer who enjoys turning fragile, manual deployments into reliable, automated systems. My focus is cloud infrastructure, provisioning it as code, containerizing what runs on it, and wiring up the pipelines and observability that keep it healthy.
I work day to day across AWS and Google Cloud, defining infrastructure with Terraform, packaging services with Docker, and shipping them through GitHub Actions and GitLab CI. When tooling is missing, I build it, usually in Python or Rust.
Here are a few technologies I've been working with recently:
- ▹Terraform
- ▹AWS
- ▹Google Cloud (GCP)
- ▹Docker & Kubernetes
- ▹CI/CD (GitHub Actions & GitLab)
- ▹Cloud Run / Serverless
- ▹Python
- ▹Rust

Where I've Worked
Systems Engineer - Linux @ AWS
2025 - Present
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure, highly available AWS infrastructure using EC2, ECR, VPC, IAM, Route 53, S3, and Bedrock, with a strong focus on automation and DevOps best practices.
- Provision EC2 instances and containerized workloads as Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, supporting automated deployments through CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor and optimize system performance with CloudWatch and centralized logging while troubleshooting VPC networking, VPN connectivity, and security group configurations.
- Strengthen cloud security posture through IAM least-privilege design, NACL and Security Group management, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure hardening - with Python and Rust automation streamlining operations.
Systems Engineer - Linux @ Eikon Group
2022 - 2025
- Managed Linux-based infrastructure (CentOS, RHEL) including DNS and DHCP, deploying OS and application updates and automating preventative maintenance.
- Used Ansible for configuration management and system hardening, proactively checking for package vulnerabilities with Linux-native tools.
- Automated repetitive tasks and workflows in Rust and Python, and managed firewall configurations and file/folder ACLs to keep environments secure.
- Built Docker microservices communicating over RabbitMQ, and evaluated new security tooling such as Darktrace for threat detection.
Some Things I've Built
- Terraform
Featured Project
Portfolio Infrastructure on GCP
A production portfolio platform provisioned entirely with Terraform on Google Cloud. Containerized with Docker, served from Cloud Run, images stored in Artifact Registry with lifecycle policies, and shipped through a GitHub Actions pipeline, all running comfortably inside the free tier at roughly $0/month.
- Terraform
- Google Cloud Run
- Docker
- GitHub Actions
- Terraform
Featured Project
Comprehensive Infrastructure Platform
An enterprise-grade, self-hosted platform on AWS, provisioned end-to-end with modular Terraform. Bundles a self-hosted GitLab CE with auto-scaling runners, Keycloak SSO, Graylog centralized logging, CloudWatch + Slack monitoring, and secure client VPN access across dev/staging/production environments.
- Terraform
- AWS
- GitLab CI/CD
- Keycloak
- AWS
Featured Project
Dynamic Sports Score Tracker
A fully serverless score-tracking service on AWS, deployed with one command via Terraform. Fargate hosts the frontend behind an ALB, Lambda handles game logic, DynamoDB stores state, and API Gateway exposes the REST layer, with dynamic resource naming so the same stack serves any sport.
- AWS
- Lambda
- DynamoDB
- Terraform
- Rust
Featured Project
firo_logger
A high-performance logging crate for Rust, published on crates.io. Delivers 1M+ logs/second in async mode, structured JSON output, size- and time-based file rotation, and module-level filtering, built for observability in throughput-sensitive services.
- Rust
- Async

Other Projects
Alula Auto Ingest
A Dockerized microservices pipeline that automates media data ingestion, generating sender-specific folder structures and Teams notifications for content providers like Apple and Netflix.
- Docker
- AWS EC2
- Python
- Power Automate
Weekly Business Review Generator
An AWS-native Slackbot that automates weekly business reviews, using Lambda and EC2 workers with Bedrock LLMs to generate AI-powered summaries on a schedule.
- AWS Lambda
- EC2
- Bedrock
- Slack
CSS-to-Rust Converter
A Python CLI that converts CSS into Rust stylist format for Yew apps, with smart parsing of media queries and pseudo-selectors, theme-variable mapping, and component grouping.
- Python
- Rust
- CLI
Inspekt
A Linux CLI for inspecting Digital Cinema Packages, running 180+ checks, hash validation, JPEG2000 bit-depth, subtitle consistency, and CPL metadata, auto-deployed via Docker.
